Point of Departure: your hotel in Beijing City 3rd ring road.

Trip duration: about 9-10 hours (4-5 of which will be spent climbing up to the Great Wall.

The Route: Xi Jhazi Village to JianKo's Great Wall section at the northern tower, then off to the "Cattle Horn" side of the wall and finally to the MuTien Valley section of the wall.

1. The physical demands of this trip are high and the terrain is rugged. Please prepare a long sleeved shirt and pants. During the trip avoid crossing through shrubbery as not to get cut or injured.

A professional guide will take you to climb the steepest part of the Great Wall. A shuttle will take you round trip to your hiking tour in JianKo to MuTien Valley's section of the Great Wall.

*JianKou Great Wall

JianKou section of the Great Wall lies in the Beijing suburb of the Huairou district in the northwestern village of Badao Hu. It is 1141 meters above sea level and about 30 kilometers from Huairou City. The mountains are all uniquely shaped making for a beautiful landscape. The wall sits aop a steep precipice, showing the true remoteness of this location. As this section of the Great Wall in JianKo Zig Zags in a W shape it looks as though it is a loaded bow and arrow buckle, hence the name JianKo (Arrow Buckle). JianKo's section of the Great Wall is the most famous of the Ming Dynasty and has become celebrated once again. In recent years this section of the wall has appeared in the most paintings and photographs.

*Mutianyu Great Wall

MuTien's section of the Great Wall was built in 1368, under the leadership of Zhu Yuanzhang of the Northern Qi, and is the crowning achievement of the Ming Dynaste's contribution to the Great Wall. The Eastern section of this wall connects with the Northern entrance and the Western connects with the Frontier Fortress Outpost. Since ancient times this outpost's role has been as a protector of the capital city. Complete with lookout towers and strategic platforms, this section of the Great Wall is also the environment of soaring eagles. Here the walls have stayed intact and there is no better place to experience the ancient history and essence of the Great Wall. Former British Prime Minister, Sir John Major, former U.S. President Bill Clinton and other various heads of state have made the trip to Mutianyu to take in the majesty of the this section of the Great Wall.
